Server rails are a small niche inside a large industry. Most of the volume is built as ODM product for server brands, so the maker's name rarely appears on the box, and most buyers first meet these companies through the rail kit that ships with an OEM chassis. This list pulls the main server rail manufacturers into one place, with a neutral profile of each and a comparison table.
The list was assembled from public company websites, each company's stated product focus, and the certifications they disclose. It is not a ranking by quality. Where a detail is not published, the table says so rather than guessing. Chinese suppliers are covered separately in best server rail manufacturers in China; this article is the global view.
How we evaluated
Every company below makes slides that can hold a chassis in a 19-inch rack, but they differ in how they sell, what they publish and who they serve. We looked at the same dimensions for each:
- Product focus: server-specific rail kits versus general industrial or telescopic slides that can also be used on rack equipment.
- Published catalog and drawings: whether you can download part numbers, dimensioned drawings or CAD without talking to sales.
- Customization path and tooling policy: whether custom brackets or lengths are offered, and whether the tooling (NRE) policy is public.
- Sample lead time and MOQ: whether samples and small quantities are available, and how quickly.
- Load range: the span of static and dynamic ratings stated publicly.
- Certifications: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, RoHS, RBA or safety test claims, as disclosed on the company's own site.
- Where they manufacture: headquarters and stated production locations.
- How you buy: through an OEM program, through distributors, or directly from the factory.
For a deeper checklist on one specific supplier, see server rail RFQ: what to send.
The manufacturers
Companies are listed by region, not by rank. Third-party profiles are limited to what each company states publicly.
King Slide (Taiwan)
King Slide is a Taiwan-based slide rail maker widely regarded as the industry leader in server rails, and an ODM supplier to major global server brands. According to King Slide's website, the company holds 2000+ patents, has 30+ years of experience, is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and complies with RoHS and RBA.
Its server rails live on a single page, "Server Rail Kits & Cable Management Arm (CMA)", listing ultra-thin tool-less kits for single-person installation, ball-bearing slides with multiple locking mechanisms, heavy loading that meets UL safety tests, a CMA as standard, customization, and kits for server, switch, storage, UPS and KVM equipment.
There is no public catalog, part-number list, spec table or pricing; the only conversion path is an enquiry form. Some King Slide-made OEM kits do reach retail through the chassis brand, for example the Chenbro 84H341300-002 26-inch 2U to 4U rail resold on eBay, Newegg and Amazon.
Best fit for: tier-1 server brands and large ODM programs with the volume to justify a dedicated engineering program.
Nan Juen (Taiwan)
Nan Juen is a Taiwan-based slide manufacturer whose core product is the ball-bearing slide. Its range spans server and rack applications as well as general industrial and cabinet hardware, and much of its output goes to OEM customers rather than to end users under its own brand. Expect to work through an enquiry rather than a self-serve catalog. Nan Juen is often the second name that comes up when buyers search for companies like King Slide, because the two share a home market and an OEM-first model.
Best fit for: OEMs and chassis makers in Asia looking for a Taiwan-based ball-bearing slide supplier with an OEM track record.
Accuride International (United States, global)
Accuride is a US-headquartered maker of ball-bearing telescopic slides with manufacturing and sales operations on several continents. Its catalog covers industrial, furniture, automotive, medical and electronics applications, and rack-mount equipment is one application among many rather than the sole focus. Accuride publishes a detailed public catalog with dimensioned drawings and CAD models, and sells through distributors as well as directly.
Best fit for: general industrial equipment builders, and small chassis makers who want an off-the-shelf catalog slide from a distributor.
General Devices (United States)
General Devices is a US manufacturer focused on chassis slides and rack hardware for electronic equipment. Its line includes telescoping chassis slides, tilt slides, rack adapters and related mounting hardware for 19-inch racks. The company publishes a catalog and sells through distributors and direct channels.
Best fit for: North American electronics and test-equipment builders who need rack slides and adapters from a domestic source.
Jonathan Engineered Solutions (United States)
Jonathan Engineered Solutions is a US maker of rugged slides and rack-mount hardware with a stated focus on defense, aerospace and industrial electronics. Its slides are built for shock, vibration and environmental demands beyond a data center rack, with a published catalog of standard products plus custom engineering. This is the company to look at when the rack is going into a vehicle, ship or field shelter rather than a climate-controlled hall.
Best fit for: defense and aerospace integrators, and any buyer whose spec calls out shock and vibration requirements.
Chambrelan (France)
Chambrelan is a French manufacturer of telescopic slides and linear guides for industrial use. Its range runs from light-duty drawer slides up to heavy-duty telescopic rails, with catalogs, dimensioned drawings and CAD available for download. Server rails are not a stated specialty; the slides are general-purpose products that suit rack equipment when the buyer designs the brackets. Chambrelan sells directly and through distributors, mainly across Europe.
Best fit for: European industrial equipment builders who need a telescopic slide with published drawings and can engineer their own rack brackets.
Rollon (Italy)
Rollon is an Italian linear motion company whose portfolio includes telescopic rails, linear guides and actuators. Its telescopic rails serve industrial automation, transportation, packaging and machinery markets, and the company publishes catalogs with drawings and CAD for its standard lines. Rollon is a general telescopic and linear motion supplier rather than a server rail specialist, selling through its own sales offices and distributors worldwide.
Best fit for: machine builders and automation integrators who need telescopic motion in equipment cabinets, not data center rack kits.
MetrixSlide (China)
MetrixSlide is a server rail manufacturer with an ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001 certified manufacturing base in Hunan, China. The range covers 1U to 10U rails in sliding (ball-bearing and friction), fixed and support, tool-less and screw-mount, universal and custom OEM/ODM types, designed to EIA-310-D, IEC 60297-3-100/-105 and OCP Open Rack V3.
Product pages publish load ratings and specifications, including the MS-TLS-120 tool-less ball-bearing kit with a specified capacity of 120 kg per pair and the MS-BBR-180 with a nominal capacity of up to 180 kg per pair for AI, GPU and liquid-cooled servers.
Standard models have a typical MOQ of 1 pair and ship in 3 business days; bracket changes, hole patterns, length and thickness can be customized within boundaries with no tooling fee and no MOQ on flexible changes. A rail fitment proposal comes back within 24 hours of receiving a chassis or rack drawing, reviewed by a mechanical engineer.
Best fit for: small and medium chassis makers, integrators, refurbishers and AI/GPU server builders who need engineering attention and transparent pricing without tier-1 volume.

Which type of supplier fits which buyer
The right supplier depends less on who is "best" and more on your volume, your engineering resources and how much of the rack problem you want solved for you.
- Tier-1 OEM volume programs. King Slide is the benchmark for tier-1 OEM volume programs, and Nan Juen sits in the same OEM-first category. Expect a dedicated engineering program and a CMA in the standard kit.
- General industrial equipment. Accuride, Chambrelan and Rollon publish full catalogs with drawings, so an engineer can pick a telescopic slide by load and travel and design the brackets in-house.
- Small and medium chassis makers and integrators. This group usually cannot get an OEM program and does not want to design brackets from scratch. A server rail specialist that publishes specs, accepts a MOQ of 1 pair and turns a fitment proposal around in a day fits better; MetrixSlide is built for teams that need engineering attention, fast iteration and transparent pricing. General Devices is a comparable domestic option in North America.
- Refurbishers. Refurbishers need rails for chassis already in the field, often out of the OEM supply chain. The practical path is a functional-equivalent rail built from chassis and rack measurements; see replacement server rails: functional equivalent vs copy.
- AI and GPU heavy-load servers. Heavier chassis push standard 2U kits past their rating. Ask every candidate for the dynamic load rating at full extension, not just the static figure, and read heavy-duty server rails for GPU and AI servers before you shortlist.
Whichever group you are in, King Slide's own five selection points are a useful neutral framework for any supplier conversation: space between rack and chassis, chassis dimension and weight, travel length, locking mechanism, and tool-less assembly.
FAQ
Who are King Slide's competitors?
In server-specific rail kits, the names that come up most often are Nan Juen in Taiwan, General Devices in the United States and MetrixSlide in China. In general telescopic slides that can be adapted to rack equipment, Accuride, Chambrelan and Rollon are the established catalog suppliers, and Jonathan Engineered Solutions covers the rugged and defense segment. Which one counts as a competitor depends on whether you need an OEM program, a catalog slide or a custom server rail.
Are server rails and drawer slides the same?
No. Both use ball-bearing or friction slide members, but a server rail is a complete kit: a chassis-side member, a rack-side member with brackets for square, round or threaded rack holes, and a locking mechanism that holds the chassis in the service position. A drawer slide is a bare telescopic slide with no rack interface. See types of server rack rails for the categories.
Can I buy King Slide rails directly?
According to King Slide's website, server rails are sold through OEM programs and the site offers an enquiry form rather than a catalog or shop. Individual King Slide-made kits sometimes reach retail through the chassis brand, for example Chenbro-branded kits on eBay, Newegg and Amazon.
For small quantities outside an OEM program, most buyers end up with a chassis brand's spare-parts channel or an alternative manufacturer; see the King Slide alternative guide.
What should I ask a rail manufacturer before ordering?
Ask for the dynamic load rating at full extension, the rail length and mounting depth range, supported rack hole types, locking and anti-drop features, MOQ and sample lead time, whether custom brackets carry a tooling fee, and which certifications the factory holds. Send a chassis drawing and rack details so the answer is specific to your case. The server rail compatibility checklist lists the measurements to include.
Does MetrixSlide make King Slide-compatible rails?
MetrixSlide does not copy King Slide products. It makes functional-equivalent rails engineered from your chassis and rack data: the mounting positions, travel and load class your application needs, using MetrixSlide's own designs and patented anti-sag structure. The difference between an equivalent and a copy is explained in replacement server rails: functional equivalent vs copy.
Next step
If your project is outside a tier-1 OEM program and you need a rail that fits a specific chassis, send the drawing through the quote page and a mechanical engineer will return a fitment proposal within 24 hours. For standard kits you can order today, start with the MS-TLS-120 tool-less ball-bearing rail kit, or browse custom server rail solutions if the application needs bracket or length changes.
